Lake & Dam Safety Rules
-
No swimming or diving
-
Currently, fishing is catch-and-release only! DO NOT release fish caught outside our lake into our ecosystem.
-
Diving or jumping off the docks is prohibited. No running on the docks.
-
No diving or jumping into the lake from boats
-
Electric Motors only are permitted on the lake**
-
Permitted watercraft include kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, paddle boards, inflatable boats, and row boats, small fishing boats, and small sailboats. Check with staff before using other types of watercraft.**
-
In accordance with state laws, all persons using any watercraft must have an approved personal floatation device (PFD) on board. Any person ages 13 or under using a watercraft must wear the PFD at all times.
-
Persons under the age of 18 using the docks or watercraft must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
-
Currently, fishing, jumping, or diving from the dam is prohibited.
-
Climbing on the dam’s concrete spillway is prohibited.
-
Motorized vehicles on the dam are prohibited, except for electric bicycles on the marked trail.
-
The lake dam road is for pedestrians and bikers only. Further restrictions may apply at various times, so be aware of and abide by all signage around the dam.
In addition to the prohibitions above, there are many other considerations for all lake users. Below are a few of these considerations:
-
The lake has no lifeguards or designated swim areas. Anyone using the lake does so at their own risk.
-
The quality of the lake water is unknown and subject to change due to changing weather conditions and chemicals or other foreign substances entering the lake. The lake water could be detrimental to your health.
-
The lake bottom contains thousands of stumps and other non-visible hazards, which make wading, swimming, boating, diving, and jumping potentially dangerous. Anyone using the lake should be aware of these hazards and use the lake at their own risk.
-
Failure to abide by the rules and cautions can lead to serious bodily harm or death.
Questions about our grounds?
-
How long does service typically last? Our services generally last 75 minutes.
-
What should I wear? When you come to our service you will find people wearing everything from jeans to suits. We want you to feel completely welcome — whether you’re casually dressed or in your “Sunday best.” It is our conviction that God cares more about the heart than the outward appearance.
-
What’s expected of first-time visitors?Nothing! You’re sure to meet warm, friendly people at our services, but you won’t be singled out. And don’t feel obligated to give to our weekly offering or participate in communion unless you choose. There are no expectations for you as a guest.
-
Can I take communion?Again, there is no expectation that you participate in communion as a guest. However, if you want to take communion at our services, you are more than welcome to do so. (1 Corinthians 11:23-34)
-
What about my kids?During worship services, we have a safe, fun and Gospel-centered environment for children in our Kingdom Kids program for infants 6 months in age through 5th graders. Your children will sing, enjoy age-appropriate lessons from the Bible and hear about our Lord Jesus.
-
How do I become a member? We have a series of foundational Bible studies to help us all grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. To set up a personal Bible study or to attend a group Bible study in your neighborhood, please ask a member or contact us at info@thefayettevillechurch.org.
